Sorry to have slacked off so much as of late. That being said…
It comes to my attention that Bush has decided to get tough with Syria, in respect to their occupation of Lebanon. Now, I should point out that I am a firm believer in the sovereignty of nations, and that NO nation should occupy another (ya hear me, George?!?!), hence I am not in support of Syria’s position. However, the raspberry seed that is sticking recalcitrantly in my wisdom tooth is that Bush has the unmitigated gaul to stand behind a UN resolution to support his pressure tactics. He’s even gone so far as to refer to it by it’s number: “That’s what 1559’s all about.”
He delivered this line with his typical swagger, preceded by talk of how the Lebanese government is infiltrated with Syrian intelligence officers. The timber of this was eerily reminiscent of that when he was discussing links between Al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. I’m not trying to be small or ad-hoministic (to coin a phrase), but my keen interest in human nature can’t help but lead me to find evidence of a particular psyche here; one that doesn’t have much of a poker face. Yet and still, Bush’s supporters remain staunch.
So, here comes Cowboy George, ready to yammer on about “freedom” and “d’mocracy”, but this time, he has the UN behind him. Fine. Dandy. But, what happens when he tries to put another “‘merican” foot down in the Middle East? Odds are that the UN will not sanction it, and he’ll cast them off and ignore the UN like the proverbial red-headed step child. Is it that Condi’s agenda with Iran has become transparent sooner than she thought it would? Such caprice is not the hallmark of just government.
All I can ever say is, “I didn’t vote for him.”
